Weareagroupofenthusiastswhowantaninterfacetobeabletotalktoourcarsremotely,perhapsaddon-cardisplays(suchasheads-upspeed),andwewanttohavefundoingit.

Whatisit?
TheOpenVehicleMonitoringSystemisthreethings:
1.Alow-costopen-sourcemodulethatfitsinthecar(availableontheOVMSsite).Itispoweredbythecar,talkstothecarontheCANbus,andusestheGSMcellularnetworktotalktoitsuser.
2.Aserver(providedbytheOVMSproject).Thecarmodulecanbeconfiguredtoeithertalktotheserver(viaUDP/IPorTCP/IPovertheInternet)ortheuserdirectly(viaSMS).
3.AcellphoneApp(thisapp).Thistalkstotheserver(viaTCP/IPHTTPprotocol)toretrievemessagesfromthecarandissueinstructions.
